Joan Harris
Life long resident of Carleton
Michigan
Began painting as a child, on school
books, prayer books, walls and
anything available.
She painted her way to adult hood
as she raised 5 sons, freelanced,
and worked in Visual Merchandising.
Finally she says, "I can paint when
and what I want." And painting is
what she does best.
Joan makes her own paper from
plant fibers; after years of
horticultural studies and gardening
she has learned what plants produce
the best cellulose for the finest hand
made paper.
More recent works shown here are a
combination of her first love which is
painting, making paper out of plants
& recycled junk mail and collecting
rocks and natures other treasures.
The simplicity of style in her recent
works is a reflection of the numerous
pictographs she has traveled
throughout the country to visit.
